For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity (fear) but power and love and discipline.
II Timothy 1:6-7
During a church service, the pastor speaking asked the question “is Jesus enough?” He began to share about our purpose on the earth and that we were made for Jesus and not just for our own promotion. There were several more points he made during his exhortation to the congregation. But as I was listening to his message, the Holy Spirit began to speak to my heart saying “there are many people sitting on their gifts. God the Father has given so many gifts that are not being used, they are left unopened. They’ve gathered dust some have rusted, some have been placed in a closet and forgotten about. Some gifts you’ve thrown out because you have felt that it is too late and no longer useful, I’m too old, I’ve experienced trauma, gone through heartbreak, hurts and disappointments. We’ve said but God, how can you use me now? But God, I’m running on empty! But God, no one recognizes me! But God, I’m not ready!”
But God! God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable they cannot be withdrawn (Romans 11:29.) God did not give you His gifts so that He can take them back. He gave them to you because He knew that you were uniquely formed and shaped for a particular task to be carried out in this earth. He had you in mind for His Kingdom assignment! Proverbs 18:16 says A gift does wonders; it will bring you before men of importance. (TLB)
Some of us have sat in the same place for far too long and have gotten comfortable. But in that place of comfort you’ve become stale and dissatisfied. You see, Jesus is enough for us in every season and His love for us is limitless and He goes above and beyond more than we can ever imagine when we trust Him with what He has entrusted to us.
This is a season of shifting, let’s move forward and begin to unwrap, take out the closet, remove from the shelf all that God has purposed in our lives!
Dear Lord, we are grateful to you for all that you have blessed us with. You are amazing and you are gracious and merciful to us even in our misfortunes, trials, heartaches, and mistakes. Dear Lord I ask that you will begin by your Spirit to stir up and awaken once again the gifts that are within us. Lord let us not be afraid or make excuses in moving forward, stepping out on faith and trusting your lead. Open doors that are to be opened and shut doors that are to be shut. In Jesus Name! ~Amen
Have a blessed week!
